Stop Torture in Tibet website reopens

12th March 2013

The Free Tibet Stop Torture mini-site has now reopened.

Torture is an everyday reality in Tibet, used by China as a weapon against dissent and to create a climate of fear.

On the Stop Torture site you can learn more about torture in Tibet in a quiz.

And you can read the stories of torture survivors or watch or listen as actors read their testimonies.

Tibetan torture victims

Watch Dominic West explain how Lhamo Kyab was hospitalised several times for carrying the Tibetan flag.

Juliet Stevenson reads the testimonial of Tsering, a nun, telling how she was detained for a year for trying to visit her sick father.

Pema was beaten, shocked, stabbed and burnt during his unexplained detention. Watch David Threlfall tell his story.

And listen as Alan Rickman reads Phuntsog's testimony. The monk was imprisoned for a year without charge for participating in a peaceful march.

You can visit the site via www.freetibet.org/stoptorture.
