Information about the physical protest - Global Day of Action

Chinese Embassy protest

In addition to our online action, Wall of Resistance, we will also be holding a small physical protest uniquely catered to allow as many people as possible to participate, whilst also adhering to the COVID-19 rules.

This protest will take place between 4pm and 7pm on 1 October at the Chinese Embassy, 31 Portland Place London, W1B 1QD.

What does it involve?

  • Our innovative protest will consist of only six protestors at any given time, but will allow many more people to participate.

  • The protest will comprise five protestors with placards and one protest coordinator.

  • Protestors will be given assigned time slots of approximately 20 minutes.

  • Protestors will be switched at the end of each time slot to allow others to take part.

  • Flags and placards will be provided, along with hand sanitiser.

  • We also plan to make the protest into a time-lapse video, showing all of the people who took part.

How can I take part?

  1. If you would like to participate in the physical protest, please contact as spaces are quickly filling up.

  2. Make a note of your time slot and aim to attend shortly before that time on the day.

  3. When you arrive at the embassy, please speak to the protest coordinator, who will be standing next to the protest in a hi-vis jacket. They will arrange for you to take your place in the protest.

  4. We understand that travel in London is tricky at the best of times. If you arrive at the protest but have missed your slot, please let the coordinator know and they will still try to accommodate you.

  5. Please read and follow our protest guidelines if you are set to attend.

We recognise that most of our supporters are not based in London, or may feel unsure about travelling to attend a gathering. For this reason, we are running our online action and encourage all our supporters to participate.
