Large gathering calling for the release of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche; UN chief in Tibet talks with China

Images from Tibet show a large assembly of Tibetans on 12 October, in Nyagchu County, praying for the immediate release of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche. Rinpoche is a title given to reincarnated religious teacher. Tibetans gather in prayer annually for Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, a highly-respected religious leader, who was originally given a death sentence with his nephew but his sentence was commuted to life on 26 January 2005. Rinpoche’s nephew, Lobsang Dhondup, was executed on 23 January 2003.
