Fundraising Manager

Tibet Watch and Free Tibet are jointly seeking an experienced and target driven fundraiser who is ready to take on responsibility for the funding bases of both organisations and develop a new integrated approach which will deliver a step change in financial sustainability.

The successful applicant will be based in our London office and will be responsible for all fundraising, including the development of new initiatives as well as maximising existing income streams. S/he will line-manage the Fundraiser and oversee and develop a wide range of activities, including supporter care and communications, individual giving, grant submissions, the online shop, events and community fundraising. S/he will also take the lead on specific streams including our annual telemarketing campaign, managing high value donors and the development of legacy and in memory giving. The post is initially being offered as a 2-year fixed term contract (with an option to extend dependent on funding).

We are looking for someone with broad fundraising experience, who is ready to take on a new challenge. Previous management experience is not essential.

Analyst

This post is a new and exciting addition to the Tibet Watch team (Free Tibet's partner organisation), which is initially being offered as a two-year fixed term contract.

The successful applicant will be based in our London office. S/he will work in collaboration with Tibet Watch colleagues to provide analytical content for thematic reports and submissions to the United Nations. S/he will also monitor and report on key developments in Tibet and China and participate in advocacy initiatives. In addition, the Analyst will assist colleagues with translation of Chinese language materials and carry out monitoring and research of Chinese language sources.

We are looking for someone with strong language skills in Chinese and English, ideally with some knowledge of Tibetan as well. We are also looking for relevant experience in research and/or political analysis.

Campaigns and Media Volunteer

Would you like to help Tibet and learn about campaigning as a volunteer member of Free Tibet’s campaign team? We’re looking for a smart, effective and reliable person who can support us in our vital work. In exchange for your time and commitment, you’ll get the opportunity to learn about campaigning, media work and Tibet hands-on.

Main tasks

• Monitor media coverage, maintain media contact database and identify media targets
• Undertake online research
• Draft and issue campaign communications where appropriate (including letters, reports, complaints)
• Participate in brainstorming and campaign planning
• Assist the digital officer in campaign-related activity and analysis
• Help to organise and run events
• Administrative tasks
• Various other tasks, as requested.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Initiative and creativity
• A professional approach to their work and role as a term member
• Strong communication skills
• Strong command of written English – both for public and media purposes and for professional communication and letter-writing to external contacts
• Good research skills

It would be great if you also had one or some of the following!

• Knowledge of the situation in Tibet and China
• Knowledge or experience of campaigning
• Professional writing and/or research experience
• Qualification or study experience in human rights, international affairs, journalism or public relations
• Knowledge of online and social media communications

Responsible to: Campaigns and Media Manager
Location: Old Street, N1, London
Stipend: £8.50 per day

We’re looking initially for a commitment of at least two working days a week for eight weeks in our central London office. Depending on your skills and our needs, we can look at increasing the hours and the period of volunteering once we know one another better.
